Their are many Celtic Ozark Events that help to make life in the Ozarks richer in history and tradition. So many Irish and Scottish people settled in the Ozarks, and brought their way of life here. It is at the heart of what is means to be a Hillbilly (the Billy Brothers were Ulster-Irish)
Coming Celtic Ozark Events
The 9th Annual SW MO Celtic Heritage Festival & Highland Games is coming back to the Celtic Ozarks. This is one of the premiere celtic ozark events each year. It also gives the town of Buffalo, Missouri a chance to show off it’s very Scottish Heritage. There are lots of Scots in Buffalo, Missouri.
This year, this celtic ozark event will be held on Friday and Saturday, September 9th & 10th, 2011. The Fairgrounds will again host the event. It is located on Ramsey Street in Buffalo, Missouri. There are always lots of signs to help you get there.
As we have reported, The events begin on Friday, Sept. 9th with the 9th annual Golf Tournament being held at Dream Valley Golf Course, 5 miles south of Buffalo off

This year, the honored clan will be Clan Davidson, and they will be leading the Calling of the Clans parade Friday night. The parade begins at 7p. The event that night will be free to the public, in order to help promote this celtic ozark event. Vendors and food will be available, so get ready for some fine Scottish and Irish food, lads and lasses.
There will also be amateur Highland Game demonstrations that evening. Friday night gives you the opportunity to purchase your advance ticket for Saturday’s events. SAVE $2 on Advance tickets.
The celtic ozark music group Tullamore will be back again. You do not want to miss this group. The traditional elements of this events will be back also: Kids Realm, demonstrations; Celtic Heritage animals; Archery, Chess Competition and the Sanctioned Highland Athletic Games.
The Highland Games component of the event is getting some new help with planning and equipment from Athletic Director, Joey Grieshaber of Webb City, MO. Joey is a fierce competitor in highland games across many states. He has also judged highland game competitions in the past.
The Games begin at 9:00 AM and there looks to be large group of athletes attending this year.
The Athletic Classes will be: Men’s Open; Men’s Novice; Women’s Open; Master’s Open; 190′s.
There will be eight (8) events: Open Stone; Braemar Stone; Heavy & Light Weight for Distance; Light Hammer;
Sheaf; Weight over Bar; and Caber.
